About Throughline Design
I’m Kristin Erhard, the designer and maker behind Throughline Design. I create each piece in my studio in the Blue Ridge Mountains, just outside Asheville, North Carolina.
I came to jewelry through ceramic sculpture, where I learned to focus on form, feel, and function. Most of my designs begin with simple shapes, inspired by the ridgelines and plant life of the Blue Ridge Mountains or by clean, geometric forms. Time spent in Denmark shaped my approach to design: keep it simple, make it beautiful, and don’t overdo it. I try to let that sense of balance guide what I create.
Across my work, the throughline is a genuine love of the creative process, from the first idea to the finished piece. I work in small batches using a mix of traditional and modern techniques. Materials vary from piece to piece, including brass, vintage English metals, and quartz, pearl or whatever has captured my imagination.
All ear wires are nickel- and lead-free raw brass, unless noted as 18k gold-plated brass or sterling silver (both also nickel- and lead-free).
