About Throughline Design

Kristin Erhard is the artist-owner of Throughline Design. Kristin makes earrings and encaustic prints in her studio near Asheville, North Carolina. Her work reflects the joy she finds in nature and art — the throughline in her designs.

All earrings are original designs and available for wholesale.  The colorful, lightweight, wooden earrings are all hand-painted and sculpturally-sanded. The metal earrings are one-of-a-kind designs with components sourced from other small businesses and socially-responsible suppliers whenever possible.

 

All encaustic prints are made from original photo transfers layered with encaustic. Encaustic is a medium made of beeswax and tree resin. Encaustic can be combined with pigments and is applied to surfaces while the wax is heated. The encaustic art tradition dates back to ancient Greek, Roman and Egyptian paintings from as long ago as 100 C.E.
