About Throughline Design

I’m Kristin Erhard, the designer and maker behind Throughline Design, working out of my studio in the Blue Ridge Mountains just outside Asheville, North Carolina. I started Throughline Design in 2021 as a way to step away from screen-based work and reconnect with the joy of making things by hand. The “throughline” — the common thread in all my designs — is a love of the creative process from start to finish.

With a background in ceramics and an appreciation for Scandinavian design, I began making earrings as a form of functional art: adornment that brings beauty and intention into everyday life. Each pair is meant to be well-worn and well-loved. I handcraft every piece in small batches using high-quality, lead + nickel-free raw brass and components sourced from other independent makers. That means every purchase not only supports my work but also helps sustain a wider network of small businesses and entrepreneurs.
