About Throughline Design
I’m Kristin Erhard, the designer and maker behind Throughline Design. I create each piece in my studio in the Blue Ridge Mountains outside Asheville, North Carolina.
I’ve been making jewelry for as long as I can remember. Even as a child, I loved making pieces for friends and family. Later, I worked in ceramic sculpture and encaustic painting, which still influence how I think about shape, surface and materials today.
I make jewelry in small batches using a mix of traditional and modern techniques using brass, vintage English metals, quartz, pearl, and other carefully chosen materials. I’m especially drawn to texture, patina, and pieces that feel curated and collected over time. I want my jewelry to be easy to wear and love.
Across my work, the throughline (or theme) is a genuine love of the creative process, from the first idea to the finished piece. Organic lines, natural forms, and the ridgelines of the Blue Ridge Mountains often find their way into my designs. Time spent living in Denmark also shaped how I think about design and everyday objects: keep it simple, make it beautiful, and don’t overdo it.
All ear wires are nickel- and lead-free raw brass unless otherwise noted as 18k gold-plated brass or sterling silver.
